Sale and leaseback is a method for raising finance (or working capital) if firms face a liquidity problem. It involves the sale of fixed assets to a specialist firm who then leases the assets back to the firm. This enables the firms to raise the capital value of the asset and just pay an annual (or monthly) fee to lease the asset back.
