Meaning and definition of core memory :

 

core memory - an outdated term describing memory made using small torii that could be polarized magnetically to store data bits. The term lives on when describing some concepts, for example a ‘core dump_ in UNIX. Believe it or not this has not been used for decades but still appears in many new textbooks.
