Grammar interjections

  • Interjections:

Interjections are usually found at the beginning of a sentence.  They are the special words used to show strong feelings or emotions:

sadness, shock, excitement, happiness, pain, horror, disgust, anger.

Interjections add energy to your sentences, but be careful interjections should not be overused.  An exclamation point is used with strong interjections.

ex.  My goodness,  Super!  Good grief!  Help!  Hey!  Wow!  Oh,

  • Sometimes interjections are just the sounds we make in

response to things happening.

(you can make up your own interjections too!)

ex.  Whoopee!  Ouch!  Ahem,  Gosh,  Phew,  Ugh,  Gee Whiz,  Ooops
