Meaning and definition of stop bath :
An acid solution used between the developer and the fixer. The stop bath halts development and at the same time neutralizes the alkaline developer, thus preventing it from lowering the acidity of the fixer. Generally a dilute solution of acetic acid, plain water is sometimes used as a stop bath for film development.
For the term stop bath may also exist other definitions and meanings, the meaning and definition indicated above are indicative not be used for medical and legal or special purposes.
