Glossary of television production terminology

 

Definition of segment

 

A general term for program material or story. There are two types of segments: i) transmission segment. Program material which is not regarded as a completed program, but it is used as a link between completed programs. ii) work-in-progress segments. Term for original material shot for use in a specific program until it is not required by that program.
