Grammar conjunctions
Conjunctions: conjunctions act as glue for connecting more than one idea or event in a sentence. They join sentences and parts of sentences together. Here are some of the most common conjunctions.
ex. and or nor but so yet for if however because
“We went on the rides and had ice cream for a treat.”
Gerunds: gerunds are nouns made from verbs. Not all verbs
can become gerunds. To make a verb a gerund the end –ing is added to the basic verb. Now the action becomes the subject being talked about.
Be Careful! Not all words with –ing on the end are gerunds,
only those acting as the subject.
ex. baby-sit(verb) baby-sitting(noun) visit(verb) visiting(noun) dance(verb) dancing(noun)
Baby-sitting is my summer job.
Flying to Disney World is exciting.
